Put white where ever you want to give the

                           illusion of light appearing.

                                          STEP 6. ADD MORE COLOR.jpg

                                                ADD MORE COLOR

Take colors from your pallete, and layer them

randomly over what you have already painted.

For example, you can take a variety of reds

and golds, and use them in your rose petals.

Paint random strokes, following the shapes of

the petals. Allow the other layers to show

                   through.

ARTIST TIP: If you paint with acrylics, and

you want a color to look really bright, water it

down until it is translucent. Use a scrap piece

of paper, or canvass for test strokes. Once you

have it to a consistency you like, paint it over

a white background. I used this technique with

the white highlights in the rose petals.

Cotinue using shadows and highlights until you

are satisfied with your FINAL ROSE!
